Avant de commencer son doctorat, Nina a travaillé comme avocate spécialisée dans les droits de l'homme pour les droits des peuples autochtones en Amérique latine. Ces expériences ont inspiré sa recherche doctorale qui explore l'interaction entre la justice transitionnelle et les ontologies autochtones en utilisant les outils de l'anthropologie juridique et la théorie ancrée (grounded theory). Sur la base d'un travail de terrain de huit mois mené avec les peuples autochtones Nasa et Wiwa en Colombie, elle étudie le dialogue ontologique entre la juridiction spéciale colombienne pour la paix et les groupes autochtones, mais également les défis et les opportunités que ce dialogue représente pour la décolonisation de la justice transitionnelle.

Before starting her PhD, Nina worked as human rights lawyer for Indigenous rights in Latin America. These experiences have been the source of inspiration for her PhD research which explores the interaction between transitional justice and Indigenous ontologies using legal anthropology tools and ground theory.
Based on eight-month fieldwork conducted with the Nasa and Wiwa Indigenous people in Colombia, she investigates the ontological dialogue between the Colombian Special Jurisdiction for Peace and Indigenous groups, and yet, the challenges and opportunities it represents for the decolonisation of transitional justice.
